                 Scanning service aids records conversion

                State agencies looking to reduce space taken up by paper files might want to consider asking the GSD Office of State Printing and Mail Services to scan the documents and save them electronically. This new service includes scanning paper files, indexing the files and providing the customer an electronic copy of the documents either on a CD or DVD or by transferring them directly to the customer’s data server for storage.

                A program that pools the buying power of state and local governments is offering free membership and simplified reporting through a pilot project to attract more members this fiscal year. DAS is waiving annual membership fees of $110 to $525 for the Cooperative Purchasing Program for any participant that submits accurate quarterly reports of the items it has purchased. The program also has streamlined reporting by giving members the new option of submitting information online.
