                 Three state IT policies issued

                The Ohio Office of Information Technology recently issued three new state IT policies following a collaborative development and an open comment period.

                 State advisory work group highly satisfied with the process

                Participants surveyed said they were highly satisfied with the process of the Enterprise Desktop Hardware Standardization Initiative Advisory Work Group. The advisory work group, comprised of the staff from 24 agencies, boards and commissions, met from April through October to develop state desktop and laptop hardware standards and a standards revision process.

                 Web site summarizes notable Ohio IT legislation

                The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is now providing an online summary report of information technology-related Ohio legislation. Updated regularly throughout each session, the online legislative report lists bills under consideration in the Ohio General Assembly that may have an impact on the State of Ohio’s acquisition and use of information technology.

                 Revised state telecomm policies issued

                The Ohio Office of Information Technology recently issued revisions to two policies related to state telecommunications services, State of Ohio IT policy ITP-H.2, "Use of State Telephones," and State of Ohio IT Policy ITP-H.6, "Telecommunications Utility Services."

                The new Web site, located at http://oit.ohio.gov, was developed as a communication vehicle for disseminating information about the Office of Information Technology to state and local government agencies, state IT professionals, IT suppliers and the general public.

                The Enterprise Desktop Hardware Standardization Advisory Work Group released a set of proposed desktop and laptop hardware standards to agency chief information officers for comment July 16.
